I am wondering when computer opponent and AI will be available? Anyone expecting it?

Usually, AI is created at late stages of game development, since all features should have been designed by that time. In this regard Wargame Project is far away from being feature complete. So it is quite possible to see computer opponents relatively soon, but they won't be operating at their full potential.

Curious how much closer AI is to reality than it was when this post was made. Would be nice to start a hotseat game with AI and get a few hours in to figure things out.

We made some progress this summer. AI learned how to explore ruins, gather armies and assault castles. Since then I've switched to another tasks, but I plan to continue AI development soon.
Some maps allow enabling of computer players, but current AI is more a proof of concept than a real opponent.

The Realms, The Horizon, Dark Omen, No Way Out.
When you start the game in hot seat mode you can select teams, race or AI opponent (if this is allowed by map creator).
